Teachers’ Courses
We offer a one year distance education course leading to a Certificate in Recognising and Teaching Children with Special Educational Needs
The purpose of the course
is to “To empower all teachers to reach out and embrace the diversity in their classrooms”
It is designed for:

Teachers who wish to  upgrade their skills to cater for the diverse needs found in their classes

Psychologists who want to learn more about SEN in the school unit

 School counsellors who wish to broaden the effectiveness in assisting children in schools

It has also proved helpful for parents of children with SEN who wish to learn how to help their child at home.
The course includes sections on

Developing awareness

Understanding the language

Equipping a teacher (the S E N Coordinator) to assess children in schools

Giving the trainee more specific training on their role in school

Equipping trainees as SEN teachers to teach children using alternative strategies

Equipping trainees with networking skills and communication skills as SEN teacher.

Equipping trainees with several strategies for remediation(accommodations and interventions)
The course consists
of 10 days Contact classes (5 at the beginning of the course and 5 at the end) with a year of correspondence work in between based in the teacher’s school.

Features of the course:

Interactive communication ( a “Google group” is created for on going communication through the year)

Option of submitting and receiving assignments by e mail or post

Criteria for evaluation: monthly assignments and presentations during final contact classes

Designed for teachers in cities, towns and rural areas where access to good quality In Service training may not be available

Teaching is in English
