Contact Classes
The initial contact classes prepare participants for the distance learning by giving time to build relationships with each other and providing an overview of the course units explaining how the course will:-

develop  awareness of differences in teaching methodologies, learning styles and strengths

ensure students are supported in their learning in order to achieve their potential

promote positive attitudes to  Learning Support amongst staff and students

enable all students  to access the curriculum at any stage  of their  school career

The final contact classes offer time for consideration of the year’s work in school along with several practical assignments assessing the teachers’ application of knowledge gathered over the year.
The final assessment is an individual presentation of the teacher’s reflection of how much they gained in the areas of:

Awareness

Staff development

Identification and assessment

Record keeping

Intervention in their school.


The course is assessed for both coursework and practical assignments during the final contact classes. A grade of 50% or more has to be attained in each competence to obtain a Pass mark.
Grades are awarded as tabled below:

 A+ =  95+%

 A =  85-94%

 B+ = 71-85%

 B  = 56-70%

C+ = 51-55%

C= 50%
